Facilities.

AIS offers many on-campus facilities for its students.

In addition to the AIS library, fitness and recreational facilities detailed below, we also offer 24/7 computer labs, a dormitory, a devotional room at the St Helens Campus, a whanau (common)/devotional room at the Asquith Campus, and free parking. Your Student Handbook will provide you with further information on all these facilities.

Library

The AIS Library is located in the Learning Hub at the St Helens Campus and provides resources, expertise and facilities in a relaxed and friendly environment to support learning, teaching and research. Our highly qualified and experienced librarians are available to assist students and researchers utilise the wide range of resources including monographs, journals, online readings and ebooks, databases, specialised software, wi-fi and multimedia. Separate study areas allow students to work individually or in groups.

Library hours:
Monday - Friday: 9.00am - 5.00pm
Saturday and Sunday: 11.00am - 3.00pm (Note: weekend hours are currently not available)
Public Holidays: Closed

Sports and Recreation Hall and Gym

Our Sports Department plays an important role in ensuring that students who study at AIS have every opportunity to balance their studies with regular exercise. Students are encouraged to utilise the excellent facilities provided, and to attend specific-interest sports such as indoor soccer, table tennis, basketball, boxing and badminton that are offered.

Our gymnasium and sports hall are located at the Asquith Campus, just five minutes’ walk from the St Helens Campus where tennis courts are located. There is no membership fee for students using our fitness and recreational facilities; however a valid student ID card must be carried as checks are regularly undertaken.

Fitness Gymnasium
The fitness gymnasium is open 45 hours each week from 10.00am to 7.00pm Monday to Friday (except on public holidays). Reduced hours apply over the December/January period. It is well-equipped with a treadmill, an exercycle, a rowing machine, a multi-purpose exercise machine, cross-trainers, dumbbells, barbells and free-weights. You’ll need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear when using the gym for your own health and safety, and bring your own drinking water bottles and towels. Showering facilities are provided in the men’s and women’s changing rooms.

Sports Hall and Equipment
The sports hall is generally available from 10.00am to 7.00pm Monday to Friday (except on public holidays and during semester examination periods). Sports equipment is available for basketball, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, indoor soccer and indoor cricket.

Cafeterias

Cafeteria facilities at both campuses offer a range of local and international cuisine, snacks and drinks at reasonable prices. Vending machines and microwave ovens are also available. Because the facility at the Asquith Campus is a student training café run by AIS Hospitality students, its opening hours can vary.
